The Mexican hotel entrepreneurs Carlos Couturier and Moises Micha of Groupo Habita have lead the art and hotel scene for the past two decades in their native country, Mexico. The group approached JH and restaurateur Jonathan Morr to partner and develop the landmark bus terminal dating back to 1928 into a 42-room hotel in the trendy historic neighborhood of Condessa/ Roma in Mexico City, Condessa DF Hotel.

The team retained India Mahdavi to design the interiors of the rooms, gift shop, public space, spa, and food and beverage outlets, including the rooftop lounge, restaurant, lobby bar, and room service. Mahdavi maintained the interior courtyard’s natural charm that connected the indoor and outdoor space within the triangular historic building.

Condessa DF Hotel ultimately re-gentrified the Condessa/ Roma neighborhood and became an instant food and beverage destination for locals, business meetings, and international travelers. Today, it remains one of Mexico City’s most stylish boutique hotels.

“It’s all about the details at this still-hip hotel, one of the city’s first boutique hotels” – Fodor’s Travel
